Interestingly apart from RSS feeds this RSS reader supports also podcasting, i.e. automatic downloading of MP3 files over RSS feeds... Windows Marketplace for Mobile has only 281 apps in it - a TOTAL FAILURE by now November 01, 2009; [General] Windows Marketplace for Mobile aka Windows Mobile app store has launched officially on October 7, 2009, so it is less than one month old. While Apple iPhone app store has 100,000 apps, Google Android Market has 11,000 apps, the Microsoft's mobile app store has, as of today (November 1, 2009) only: 281 apps. We are happy for Canadians that they got 2010 Winter Olympics that will take place in Vancouver, Canada. Canada is a great country and they deserve these Olympics, but do they deserve Samsung Omnia II only, or maybe something better?
Well, Canadian wireless carrier "Bell Canada" is the official carrier of these 2010 Winter Olympics and Samsung Omnia II is the official cellphone of these Olympics! Now, don't get us wrong: Samsung Omnia II is a great phone but unfortunately it has no multitouch so it is automatically losing with HTC HD2. Unfortunately Samsung engineers still have old mentality and they think that nicely formed cursor button is more important than multitouch. Phone makers should understand at last: multitouch is a must-have feature and all things happen in software on the screen and not in hardware buttons... Editorial: multitouch comes to Windows Mobile via HTC HD2 - but will it be good enough? November 01, 2009; [with touch-screen] HTC HD2 goes on sale this month (November 2009) and it is the first Windows Mobile phone with multitouch support, including zooming with pinch gesture. The question is: since Windows Mobile 6.5 does not support multitouch in any form, HTC had to hack support for multitouch on top of the Windows Mobile - but only in some apps. Will such hacked support for multitouch be good enough to convince you to spend additional money to get HD2? Today we have picked this app: Blunders of Microsoft in Mobility: new operating system on old phone October 30, 2009; [General] We have noticed many mistakes that Microsoft has made over the years. We are starting a new series of stories called "Blunders of Microsoft in Mobility" where we will be pointing out various errors and mistakes of Microsoft in the area of cellphones. Many of these mistakes are caused by incompetence and lack of proper diligence at work. Some of these mistakes are caused by nepotism and lack of passion for the mobility. All in all these blunders occur and since Microsoft surrenders itself with layers and layers of yes-sayers, very often nobody even notices them. Today is easy one, just take a look at this picture from the main page of Microsoft's Windows Marketplace for Mobile (aka Windows Mobile app store): Quirky Brit posts video review of HTC HD2 that is not real October 30, 2009; [with touch-screen] Amazing. While Windows Marketplace for Mobile is still in early phases of development - to put it very mildly - Microsoft will be releasing by the end of this year, officially, the Marketplace for older Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 phones, so business opportunity for Windows Mobile developers will increase significantly soon!
